What began in the early 1970s as an informal alliance among ten visionary community-based organizations has grown into a leading force for primary care and advocacy in Orange County. \nThese pioneering executive directors and clinic managers came together with a shared purpose: to exchange best practices\, pool resources\, and strengthen their collective voice through trust and collaboration. Even in those early days\, their mission was clear—to build access points for health and social services for Orange County’s medically under-resourced and limited access communities. \nTheir efforts culminated in April 1974\, with the formal incorporation of the Coalition as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

DESCRIPTION:CPCA Advocates’ Day at the Capitol (DAC) is an annual event that allows patients\, clinicians\, health center staff\, and consortia to engage in dialogue with legislators and legislative staff about budget and legislative priorities impacting community health centers (CHCs). Day at the Capitol provides a forum in which the voice of CHCs can unite and be heard. Participants will attend legislative visits with their respective representatives to emphasize the importance of CHCs in the current year’s budget and legislative session\, in addition to expressing the vital need for administrative streamlining. We highly encourage all types of health center staff and patients to attend\, as policy and advocacy experience is not required!
