THE MAT INTAKE PROCESS
- Patient schedules MAT appointment
- Can be telemedicine or in-person visit
- Induction can be in office or at home
- Patient takes first dose, waits 30 minutes
- If the patient is still experiencing symptoms, take additional doses as directed. Patient calls provider if still experiencing symptoms.
- Initial prescription is for seven days during the first month of treatment.

WHY MATCONNECT?
Overcoming substance use disorder is extremely difficult, but FREE help is available. MATCONNECT is a free, safe, confidential treatment designed to help. MATCONNECT is an outpatient program of the Coalition of Orange County Community Clinics that provides a patient-centered approach that integrates physical and behavioral health services to achieve recovery and the ability to live a self-directed life.
Who is eligible?
Patients with moderate to severe substance use disorders that may have been to multiple abstinence-based programs but do not have the ability to remain sober and stable.
MATCONNECT is a free program available to individuals who qualify for Medi-Cal. Uninsured and undocumented patients are also able to access treatment on a sliding fee scale.
What treatment is provided?
The MATCONNECT program uses FDA-approved medications including Subutex, Suboxone, Sublocade, or Vivitrol for substance use disorder in combination with counseling and behavioral health therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment.
The medications listed are for treatment of opioid and alcohol use disorder, not methamphetamine, cannabis, benzodiazepines, and sedative-use disorder.
Who treats the patients?
Outpatient community-based healthcare clinics in Orange County provide medications for addiction treatment, as well as other primary and preventative medical services such as dental, behavioral, and vision services, regardless of the patient’s ability to pay.
